Power Infra Overview
In the next decade, India needs to spend over Rs. 1400 Billion on transmission systems and Sterlite believes the BOOM model will be the preferred model and that it is well positioned to become a market leader in this sector. Business Overview Sterlite has been awarded three projects for building power transmission systems (lines and substations) in India, as a Developer, on a Build Own Operate Maintain ("BOOM") basis. For these projects, Sterlite would undertake the designing, financing and construction and maintenance of the transmission systems for concession periods ranging from 25 to 35 years. These transmission lines would help facilitate power evacuation and would be used for SEBs, Power Gencos for which Sterlite would earn a fixed transmission tariff (similar to take or pay arrangement).
Sterlite\'s portfolio of three projects aggregate to a total value of about Rs. 40 Billion. These transmission systems would evacuate and transmit power through a network of about 2200 km of transmission lines and 2 substations; in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Bihar and Assam.

Sterlite Grid Limited is a fully owned subsidiary of Sterlite Technologies Limited. The Company is executing multi-million dollar power transmission system projects, pan-India via its fully owned subsidiary companies - East-North Interconnection (ENICL), Bhopal-Dhule Transmission (BDTCL) and Jabalpur Transmission (JTCL). The Bhopal-Dhule and Jabalpur transmission lines would form part of a system, which would help evacuate power from a large number of IPP projects totalling to an installed capacity of 35,000 MW which are proposed to come in the states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The beneficiaries of the transmission line projects would be the states of Northern and Western India. These EHV projects represent significant advancements in the field of power transmission. These projects would enhance the overall grid capacity significantly and substantially reduce transmission power losses, thus assisting the economic development of the nation.
