Power Infra Overview

Sterlite Grid is the largest independent private power transmission developer in India. Sterlite owns six projects consisting of ~ 4,653 circuit km Extra High Voltage (EHV) power transmission lines and 3 substations across 12 states in India. Sterlite won these projects on Build Own Operate Maintain (BOOM) basis via tariff based competitive bidding process ran by Ministry of Power. Sterlite Gird Limited (SGL) owns the first three transmission projects acquired in 2010 and 2011. Sterlite Grid 2 Limited (SGL2) owns the three transmission projects acquired in 2014 and 2015.

Sterlite has put in place a strong management team of close to 200 professionals with significant experience of successful execution of developing transmission assets across India with its varying geographical terrain and socio-economic situations. We have spearheaded introduction of global technologies into route design and survey methods. Helicopter survey using technologies such as PLS-CADD (Power Line Systems - Computer Aided Design and Drafting) have been successfully implemented. We have also experimented with helicopter stringing in its BDTCL project to overcome Right of Way (RoW) clearances thereby allowing speedier execution of works. Some of these technologies are now gradually being used on a larger scale.

While the first three assets of Sterlite are operational / near operational, the newer assets have progressed from development stage to construction phase.
